a toughened female immigrant, run into harm's lethal way in a fact-based thriller and history mystery. Front Cover: Oscar winner Grace Kelly drives Cary Grant in Hitchcock's classic film "To Catch a Thief." On that same road, as a princess, she will face real tragedy. Back: Dictator and drug kingpin Manuel Noriega.
Some characters dash though both stories.
This history mystery and thriller reveals the role of the Mafia behind the death of Academy Award-winning-actress turned Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly Grimaldi . . . and the covert FBI and CIA joint operation formed to take down Panamanian dictator and drug kingpin Manuel Noriega. The story comes from first-hand knowledge.
Schofield's father, as a child then young adult, lived next door to a pair of friends: Grace Kelly, who was his age; and Grace's younger brother Kell, who became an esteemed Philadelphia city councilperson and president of the U.S. Olympic Committee. These next-door siblings met tragic and untimely demises with yet another family member.
As to General Noriega, who partnered with Pablo Escobar and the Madelin drug cartel, Schofield's mentor in the criminal law, Raymond J. Takiff, was one of three talented lawyers to defend the Panamanian miscreant in U.S. courts. Later Takiff became an FBI star witness. Ray posed as defense counsel for FBI agents playacting as drug dealers. He extended bribes to willing members of the judiciary. Operation Court Broom swept the judiciary clean by wielding more arrests and convictions of corrupt federal and state judges and magistrates than any other law enforcement operation in history.
As you turn pages, you will find Schofield shares stories he knows intimately.
For an Oscar-winning Best Actress and Princess of Monaco, murder is no accident.
